Former actor Ryuichi Kohata will become a trainer for Ohashi Boxing Gym in Yokohama, the gym said on May 25.

  According to the gym, the 47-year-old Kohata, who served as the captain of Yokohama High-School boxing club from which the gym’s president Hideyuki Ohashi graduated and a sub-captain of the boxing club at Chuo University.

He turned pro from Ohashi gym in March 2000 and had a win-draw tally with one knockout before hanging up his gloves.

  Kohata then became an actor in 2003 and took part in such television drama as ‘’Avalanche’’ and in ‘’House of Ninjas’’ delivered in Netflix, an American subscription video on-demand over-the-top streaming service.

  Ohashi said, ‘’We at Ohashi gym has added another new powerful trainer.’’
