Former World Boxing Association minimumweight champion Ryo Miyazaki of 3150 (Saiko) Fight Club made a comeback for the first time in five years and four months as he stopped Takayuki Teraji of Missile Kudo Boxing Gym in the third round of the scheduled six-rounder.
It was the 33-year-old Miyazaki’s first fight since losing to Ryoichi Taguchi of Watanabe Boxing Gym for the latter’s WBA light flyweight title in August 2016.
Fighting at Mielparque Hall at the catchweight of 51.5-kg (113.5 lbs.), Miyazaki unleashed a barrage of left-right combinations in the third round after putting Teraji against a neutral corner, prompting the referee to step in to stop the fight and declared Miyazaki’s technical knockout win at 2 minutes and 11 seconds into the round.
With the victory, Miyazaki, who is gunning for a flyweight world title, improved his record to 25 wins, including 16 KOs, against two losses and three draws. For his part, the 30-year-old Teraji dropped to a 9-20-1 win-loss-draw tally with four KOs.
