Both Kyoguchi, Teraji clear weigh-ins for Nov. 1 light flyweight title unification fight

Oct 31, 2022 21:36 pm

Both World Boxing Association light flyweight ‘’super’’ champion Hiroto Kyoguchi of Watanabe Boxing Gym and World Boxing Council light flyweight champion Kenshiro Teraji of B.M.B. Boxing Gym cleared the weigh-ins in Tokyo on Oct. 31 for their title unification fight the following day at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama Prefecture.

The 28-year-old Kyoguchi tipped the scales at 48.8 kg (107.6 lbs) while the 30-year-old Teraji weighed in at 48.6 kg (107.1 lbs), thereby both clearing the 48.97 kg (108 lbs) weight limit.

There will not be any open scoring system adopted in the fight, according to the day’s meeting for rules, in which it was also decided that Kyoguchi will use the gloves of NoBoxing NoLife, and Teraji will wear Winning gloves.

The 12-round fight will be shown live by Amazon Prime Video with the first preliminary bout expected to start from 5:50 p.m. with the Kyoguchi-Teraji fight, the main event, planned to begin around 8:45 p.m.
Kyoguchi has a record of 16 straight wins, including 11 knockouts. Teraji has a 19-1 win-loss tally with 11 KOs.

It will be the first title unification fight between Japanese boxers in 10 years. Then WBC minimumweight champion Kazuto Ioka of Ioka Boxing Gym and WBA ruler Akira Yaegashi of Ohashi Boxing Gym fought in 2012 for the title unification fight, in which Ioka emerged victorious in a hard-fought battle.
