The main event fighter, Ozaki, is a 23-year-old southpaw. He built his career as an amateur while attending Hosei University (from which he withdrew) and made his professional debut at Taisei Gym. Earlier this year, he transferred to World Sports Gym. His record so far stands at 9 wins (8 KOs) and 1 draw, and he won the WBO-AP title once in 2024.
Speaking at the press conference, Ozaki said, “It’s an honor to be entrusted with the main event at Korakuen Hall for the first time since turning pro.” Regarding the battle for the belt he previously held, he expressed confidence, stating, “I’ll win it as a matter of course.” He added that he “will be particular about how I win,” signaling his intent to make a case for entering the world title scene. His opponent, Francisco, has a record of 12 wins (4 KOs) and 3 losses.
In the co-main event, a Japanese Super Welterweight bout, champion Soda—who is making his first title defense—was absent from the press conference, but challenger Tsujimoto was present and spoke enthusiastically about the opportunity that has come his way after 12 years in the sport. “My turn has finally come,” said Tsujimoto. Although he has a 29-fight amateur career, he has steadily built his record since winning Rookie of the Year, and this will be his first title bout.
Champion Soda (9 wins, 5 KOs, 2 losses, 1 draw) won the title from Ai Kamikaze (RK Kamata) in March of this year, and this will be his first title defense. Tsujimoto (12 wins, 8 KOs, 2 losses, 3 draws) said, “(Soda) is good at neutralizing his opponent’s strengths, but I’m going to neutralize him before he neutralizes me.”
