Kyoto boxing gym trainee found to have COVID-19

The Japan Boxing Commission ordered an indefinite break of license to Muto Gym president Takashi Edagawa starting Aug. 24. the JBC said on Sept. 16.
Edagawa, 56, was found to have evaded taxes for his real estate company in violation of the Corporation Tax Act as he received a 1-year sentence with 3 years suspended.
The JBC also said Hiroshi Haruki, head of Mitsuki Boxing Gym in Osaka Prefecture’s Sakai, western Japan, hit a former trainer of the gym before a boxing event on Dec. 14, last year. Haruki, 52, was charged with an assault and battery. His promoter’s license has been suspended for one year starting Dec. 14.
The JBC suspended the club owner’s license and manager’s license of the 46-year-old Jun Toriumi, head of TEAM 10 COUNT gym, for six months starting Jan. 1 this year.
All of these acts resulted in losing credence of boxing, the JBC said.
