Former World Boxing Organization flyweight champion Junto Nakatani of M.T Boxing Gym hammered out a 10-round unanimous decision over WBO’s third-ranked super flyweight Francisco Rodriguez Jr of Mexico on Nov. 1 at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama Prefecture.

The 30-year-old Rodriguez Jr switched from the orthodox-style to southpaw soon into the fight and mostly fought that way. He occasionally connected with wild punches to Nakatani, who has just relinquished his world title to move up in weight.

After the fight, undefeated Nakatani said, ‘’Mr. Rodriguez was tough, and I learned a lot from the fight. I will promise I will become a world super flyweight champion without fail.’’

With the victory, Nakatani extended his unbeaten streak to 24 straight wins, including 18 Kos, while Rodriguez Jr fell to a 36-6-1 win-loss-draw tally with 25 KOs.

The bout served as one of the undercards for the world light flyweight title unification match between World Boxing Council champion Kenshiro Teraji of B.M.B. Boxing Gym and World Boxing Association ‘’super’’ champion Hiroto Kyoguchi of Watanabe Boxing Gym.
