JBC, JPBA working out guidelines for coronavirus

Aug 06, 2020 18:51 pm

Japan Boxing Commission and Japan Pro Boxing Associations jointly decided at their liaison council meeting on Aug. 5 that JBC will make public a gym or gyms and a boxer or boxers if prefight polymerase chain reaction or PCR tests should have positive test results. No boxers have so far shown positive test results.

At the meeting, held online, they also decided to prevent a boxer or boxers from climbing through the ropes if the fighter (s) should go out of the designated hotel as the boxers concerned are obliged to remain at the hotel until their bouts after they have cleared official weigh-ins held the preceding day.

Both JBC and JPBA held the council meeting as the number of boxing matches not completely closed-door is expected to increase from August.
While the number of boxers infected with novel coronavirus has increased recently in Osaka, western Japan, due chiefly to sparring sessions at gyms to which they do not belong, they decided to table the matter for further discussion irrespective of the region.
