The Japan Boxing Commission said on Sept. 19 that an ordinary man in his 40s training at a professional boxing gym in Kyoto, western Japan, is suffering from the novel coronavirus or COVID-19.

The man, who attends the gym belonging to the Japan Pro Boxing Association, tested positive in a polymerase chain reaction test on Sept. 17 and has been isolated at a hotel since then.

While the man showed no symptoms associated with the COVID-19, he took a PCR test as he had a close contact with an infected person.

The gym, whose name is withheld, is waiting for an advice from a relevant local healthcare center, according to the JBC.
