Yamauchi captures WBO Asia Pacific flyweight title

Aug 21, 2020 19:19 pm

Ryota Yamauchi stopped Satoru Todaka in the third round to win the vacant World Boxing Organization Asia Pacific flyweight crown on Aug. 19 at Tokyo’s Korakuen Hall.

The end of the scheduled 12-rounder came at the end of the third round when the 31-year-old Todaka did not come out for the fourth round due apparently to the damage he suffered when he was floored in the third round with Yamauchi’s right uppercut.

With the victory, the 25-year-old Yamauchi improved his record to seven wins, six by knockout, against a loss, while Todaka sagged to a 10-4-4 win-loss-draw record with four KOs. Todaka announced his retirement from the ring.
