World Boxing Association ‘’super’’ and International Boxing Federation bantamweight champion Naoya ‘’Monster’’ Inoue of Ohashi Boxing Gym, who will take on the IBF’s No.1-ranked Michael Dasmarinas of the Philippines in Las Vegas, Nevada, on June 19 (June 20 Japan time), joined up with the gym’s president Hiroyuki Ohashi and his trainers on June 16 local time.
The 28-year-old Inoue moved to Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, where the scheduled 12-rounder with Dasmarinas, also 28, will be staged, after a one-hour training in the afternoon at a fitness gym within a nearby condominium-type hotel. The temperature for the day rose to a maximum 47 ℃ (116.6 F).
Inoue was received by just-arrived Ohashi and the trainers at Virgin Hotels and will continue to stay there as various promotional events are being thrown by host Top Rank Inc., a major U.S. boxing promotional company.
The fight will be Inoue’s fifth defense of the WBA title and his third of the IBF crown.
Inoue has 20 straight wins, including 17 knockouts, while southpaw Dasmarinas has a 30-2-1 win-loss-draw record with 20 KOs. (Photo: Courtesy of Ohashi Boxing Gym).
