Yuko Kuroki of YuKO Fitness Boxing GYM pounded out a 10-round unanimous decision over former champion Nanae Suzuki of Shu Boxing Gym to retain the World Boxing Organization’s world female atomweight title in their direct rematch on March 30 in Tokyo.

It was the 32-year-old Kuroki’s first successful defense of the title she won from the 30-year-old Suzuki last September. There were no knockdowns in the fight marred with clinches.

Fighting at Korakuen Hall, the left-handed Kuroki controlled the fight in the first two rounds by landing straight lefts by moving swiftly. But both struggled with each other from the third round as neither was able to land clear punches at close range.

Two of the three judges scored the fight 96-94 and the remaining judge saw it 97-93, all in favor of Kuroki.

With the victory, Kuroki, who will move to Shinsei Boxing Gym in Kobe, improved her record to 21 wins, including nine knockouts, against seven losses and two draws. Suzuki fell to an 11-6-1 win-loss-draw tally with one KO.

In the chief supporting card, Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation female flyweight champion Chaoz Minowa of Watanabe Boxing Gym earned a majority decision over former WBO world super flyweight champion Tomoko Okuda of Sakai Haruki Boxing Gym in an eight-round match.

With the win, Minowa, 35, upped her record to eight wins, including six KOs, against four defeats. For her part, the 39-year-old Okuda dropped to a 7-5-2 win-loss-draw tally.

Meanwhile, Hoju Maeda of Himeji Kinoshita Boxing Gym and Marina Sayama of Watanabe gym fought to a six-round draw in the vacant Japanese female flyweight title match as one of the undercard bouts.
With the result, the 19-year-old Maeda now has four wins and two draws while the 35-year-old Sayama stands at 5-4-2 win-loss-draw record with two KOs.

Honoka Kano of Setagaya Okura Boxing Gym hammered out a shutout decision over Mont Blanc Miki of Ichiriki Boxing Gym to win the vacant Japanese female atomweight title.

With the win, Kano improved her record to five wins, including two KOs, against a loss and two draws, while Miki fell to a 4-6-1 win-loss-draw tally with one KO.
