Feb 05, 2024 9:07 am

Second-ranked Japanese female flyweight Nanae Yamaka of EBISU K’s BOX gym pounded out a six-round unanimous decision over top-ranked Hoju Maeda of Himeji-Kinoshita Boxing Gym to win the vacant Japanese female flyweight title on Feb. 4 in Kyoto.

Yamaya (R) becomes new champion by connecting with short punches

Fighting at KBS Kyoto Hall, the left-handed Yamaka fended off Maeda’s offense with her quick move while landing short punches throughout the fight.

With the victory, 32-year-old Yamaka improved her record to six wins, including two KOs, against a loss, while the 20-year-old Maeda fell to a 4-1-2 win-loss-draw tally.
