Triple titleholder Fukunaga known as ‘Little Pacquiao’ gets support from Reyes Japan

Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation, World Boxing Organization’s Asia-Pacific and Japanese super flyweight champion Ryoji Fukunaga of Kadoebi Boxing Gym will get financial support from Cleto Reyes Japan, a Japanese subsidiary of popular Mexican boxing gear company Industria Reyes S.A., it was learned on April 20.

The 34-year-old Fukunaga, dubbed ‘’Little Pacquiao’’ a la legendary Manny Pacquiao of the Philippines, will put his WBO Asia-Pacific and Japanese titles on the line against eighth-ranked Japanese super flyweight Takahiro Fujii of Kaneko Boxing Gym on May 22 at Tokyo’s Sumida City Gymnasium.

Southpaw Fukunaga, who is similar to Pacquiao for his facial appearance, has a record of 13 wins, all by knockout, against four losses. He is making his second and first defense of the WBO and Japanese titles, respectively.

For his part, it will be the 31-year-old Fujii’s first title challenge. He has a 12-6-1 win-loss-draw tally with three KOs.
