The International Boxing Federation’s fifth-ranked Aran Dipaen of Thailand, who will challenge World Boxing Association’s ‘’super’’ and IBF’s bantamweight champion Naoya ‘’Monster’’ Inoue of Ohashi Boxing Gym for the latter’s titles on Dec. 14 at Tokyo’s Ryogoku Kokugikan Sumo Arena, said he came to Japan because he thinks he can beat Inoue, the gym has released his comments recently.

The 30-year-old Dipaen arrived in Japan on Nov. 28 and has been training at a Japanese government-designated hotel in Kanagawa Prefecture, south of Tokyo, along with his handlers because they are in the midst of isolation amid COVID-19 worries.

The following is the question-and-answer exchange sent by the gym.

Question: Have you been doing the training at the hotel ever since your arrival in Japan?
Answer: Yes. We are concerned about the possible spread of the novel coronavirus and decided to do the training at the hotel because that would make things much safer.

Q: What about your effort to reduce your weight as well as your condition in general?
A: I have no problem about my weight reduction efforts, and my condition is good.

Q: How many rounds of sparring did you do before coming to Japan?
A: 199 rounds.

Q: When you arrived in Japan, you said you would knockout Inoue. Could you expatiate on that?
A: I did not come to Japan if I was afraid of Inoue. I came to Japan because I think I can definitely beat him.

Q: What about the food you take in Japan?
A: I always eat a lunch bag since I am still in the period of isolation. But everything is tasty, and I am satisfied.

Q You are in the midst of isolation. But what are some of the Japanese foods you like?
A: Sliced raw fish (salmon) and ramen.

Q: Could you tell us about the composition of your family?
A: I am single. I am living together with seven other boxers at our gym (in Thailand).

Q: When did you start boxing?
A: When I was 13.

Q: Did you do other sport or sports other than boxing?
A: I did Muay Thai. My Muay Thai record is 50 wins against 10 losses.
