Yoshida, Ozawa clear weigh-ins for world female super flyweight title fight in Tokyo

May 30, 2022 8:52 am

World Boxing Organization world female super flyweight champion Miyo Yoshida of Misako Boxing Gym tipped the scales at the class limit of 52.1 kg (114.86 lbs) while Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation’s second-ranked flyweight Tamao Ozawa of Futur Boxing Gym weighed in at 51.7 kg (114 lbs) on May 29 in Tokyo in preparation for their title match on May 30 at Korakuen Hall.

It will be the 34-year-old Yoshida’s first defense of the title she captured from Tomoko Okuda of Mitsuki Boxing Gym in a direct rematch last June. Yoshida, known as a single fighting mother, has a record of 15 wins against two losses.

For her part, it will be the 36-year-old Ozawa’s third attempt at a world title. She last fought in April 2019. She has a 16-5 win-loss record with six knockouts.
